On 20th September, 1917 during the attack on POLYGON WOOD Corporal Boyce was in charge of Wireless and Power Buzzer station. He erected aerial under barrage fire and after much trouble and dangerous work ( being buried by shell fire and much shaken) he got into communication with the Corps directing station. He set out earths and power buzzer and obtained communications and constantly repaired same under constant shell fire. Having established his station he went through barrage to the Brigade Forward Stations and set them in working order. It was largely due to the conspicuous gallantry on the part of this N.C.O. that amplifier and power buzer communication was such a success.

TALLANGATTA, Monday.-Mr. John Boyce, an old resident from the Valley, drove into Tallangatta yesterday. On the return journey he was accompanied by his
two sons. Reaching the farm, the sons alighted to open the homestead gate, and returning to the gig they found their father dead. Mr. Boyce had suffered from heart disease.

DEATH of Old Colonist.-The death
of a very old former resident of Barnawatha
in Mrs. Margaret Boyce, relict
of the late George Boyce, occurred at
her residence, Baker stroeet, Wangaratta,
on Sunday afternoon, afternoon, after a few
days' illness. The late Mrs. Boyce, who
was aged 88 years, was born at Cahir,
Tipporary, Ireland, and came to Australia
with her husband in 1852. They settled
at Barnawartha where they resided for 60
years and about 10 years ago they went
to Wangaratta to reside, Deceased's
husband died nine year. ago. The late
Mrs. Boyce always enjoyed remarkably
good health, and retained her faculties
the end. She is survived by five grown
daughters.
